Language Buddies Coordinator

What will you do?

As one of the Taalmaatjes (Language Buddies) Roosendaal coordinators, you bring people whose native language is not Dutch into contact with our volunteers. You conduct intake interviews with people who want to improve their spoken Dutch (participants) and with volunteers (Language Buddies).

You then determine which volunteer best fits the participant's request.

In this way, you "match" each participant with the right volunteer. The volunteer and participant then go through a one-year programme together. During that year, as coordinator you are available to both participant and volunteer. You keep your finger on the pulse and point out courses that may be helpful.

Together with the other coordinators, you also organise the weekly Language Café (every Tuesday afternoon at Bibliotheek West-Brabant). Here, people with a language disadvantage learn Dutch in a relaxed way (for example through games). Attendance at this Language Café is always by arrangement with the co-coordinators.

Something for you?
Humanitas offers you varied, inspiring and valuable volunteer work. You actively contribute to the knowledge and understanding of the Dutch language among people from different backgrounds, who can then also participate better in society.

You can also count on a travel allowance from us, and you develop yourself free of charge as a person and as a professional through the Humanitas Academy.
