Lonely...
and now?

What is loneliness?

Loneliness is a signal, just like hunger and thirst, that you need connection. Connection that suits you, for example with (volunteer) colleagues, like-minded people in a walking or yoga club, a good friend, or enthusiastic people to go out with… That's why it's a personal journey. Discovering what suits you, what makes you happy, and what you might find challenging in connecting with others.

Feelings of loneliness are an increasing problem in the Netherlands, including in the municipality of Roosendaal. In 2016, 42% of adults in Roosendaal felt lonely. By 2023, this increased to 50%, of whom 13% felt very lonely. (Source: allecijfers.nl)

In our municipality, there are various initiatives to meet each other and take courses. This page brings them all together! Get inspired!

WeAre:

Regulars' Tables

Contact with others makes life so much more enjoyable. That meeting, that conversation, asking a question, sharing experiences, or just having a cup of coffee together. It's not always obvious for everyone. That's why WeAre organizes weekly drop-in sessions in neighborhood centers in the municipality of Roosendaal where they serve coffee and attention, a regulars' table.

Humanitas:

Well-Being Café

Twice a month on Wednesday afternoons, Humanitas organizes the Well-Being Café. Discussions are held here on themes for which you sometimes don't have time or opportunity to talk about in daily life. You have the chance to share your experiences and at the same time listen to how others feel about it. Other activities are also organized regularly. And we organize a Walking to Well-Being event once a month.

Training on Positive Health

Health is more than just not being ill. It's also about how you feel. Do you find it easy to deal with changes you encounter in your life? Both big and small. Think of misfortune, problems at home, stress, or saying goodbye to a loved one.

First, learn to look inward with a broad perspective to understand yourself, before engaging in conversations with others about it. In 3 sessions, you'll gain enough tools to get started.

Want to learn more about Positive Health? Take the test below! Or contact one of the trainers chantal@socialklus.nl, or k.hendriks@humanitas.nl. It is also possible to register with a group of colleagues/volunteers.
